Het eerste stuk van het eerste hoofdstuk speelt zich af in een latere periode dan dat wat daarna komt.
In het klooster voelt Beda, de hoofdpersoon, zich maar half thuis. Hij voelt weinig voor heiligenlevens en hij vraagt zich toch wel wat dingen af over het geloof dat hem geleerd wordt. Hoe kan God zijn gevallen engelen naar de aarde gestuurd hebben terwijl die aarde er nog niet was? Ook kan hij niet tot bidden komen. Hij voelt er niets bij. Hij heeft eens een nachtmerrie ofzo, die waarschijnlijk beelden vertoont van zijn leven voor de schipbreuk.

Het boek begint met een aantal stukken in de ik-vorm. Hierna begint hoofdstuk 1, plots een verhaal. Waarschijnlijk het verhaal waarover de ik-figuur daarvoor vertelde. Je maakt kennis met de hoofdpersoon van het verhaal, als die zo te noemen is. Deze jongen is ooit als baby als enige overlever aangetroffen bij een scheepsramp. Hij leek van goede komaf, maar familie is hem nooit komen halen. (Op zich logisch als die allemaal met dat schip mee waren, maar dat hoeft natuurlijk niet zo te zijn.) Hij is in een klooster ondergebracht.

There is quite some humour and sarcasm in this book, I love it. I finished reading it within two days, for I couldn't stop myself. I do not think that I have read anything like this before. If you love Young Adult fantasy books and you want to read something adorable, you should probably check this book out.

This was a fun and nice book to read. It is cool to see a lot of human things described from 'rabbit perspective' with only some of them knowing what to do with something. I loved the parts where one of the rabbits came up with something smart, without a way to make the other rabbits understand how it worked. Like the boat.
